Project Steps
- This design was etched in stages. The technique allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously. Additionally, it enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit.
- After preparing the glass, draw a centerline down the back. See the centerline tutorial if necessary. Cover 1/2 to 1 inch on either side of the glass and 1/4 inch across the top and bottom securely with masking tape. Lay parallel pieces of border tape across the top and bottom of the glass. You will be etching between the lines so space accordingly.
- Center the letters for Menu on either side of the centerline bellow the stripes on top. Add a baler on either end of the word Menu. Position the rolling pin centered bellow the word Menu . Center the pie along the centerline above the bottom stripes. Follow the etching cream instructions to add all of these elements to the glass.
- Looking through the back of the glass, place other kitchen element stencils from the sheet on either side of the pie as close to it as possible. Repeat the process of adding and etching kitchen elements in close proximity to either side until the design is complete.
- Center the menu on the back of the glass in the open design area. Place the black paper over the menu and glass as a solid background before attaching the frame backing.
