Project Steps
- The design was etched in stages. The technique enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit. It also allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously.
- This design also used a masking technique which allows for the selective use of certain parts of a stencil in specific locations.
- After preparing the glass, using a grid mat, place the meditation stencil centered on the lamp. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch the design onto the glass.
- Thoroughly clean the design area. Looking through the back of the lamp, position the wreath stencil around the meditating person on the front. Position the design so that it goes from palm to palm.
- With masking tape, securely cover all the open areas of the stencil that overlap the design already on the glass underneath. Use the etching cream, as before, to add the wreath to the design.
- Thoroughly clean the design area. Using a grid mat, place the Y centered above the design on the glass. Moving outward from the Y and curving downward, add the remaining letters to the glass.
- Use the etching cream, as before, to add the words to the glass.
