Project Steps

1. This design was etched in stages. The technique enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit. It also allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously.
2. Wine Bottle. After preparing the glass, place 2 corner stencils end to end so they make a squared off arch. Use a grid mat to center and keep the line across the top level. Center a long ornament stencil in the middle of the arch. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch the design onto the bottle.
3. Glasses. After preparing the glass, position the grapes with banner stencil up near the rim of the glasses. Rotate the stencil on one of the glasses so the images are the opposite of each other. To etch both glasses simultaneously, two sheets are necessary. Otherwise, etch the glasses one at a time. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch the banner stencil onto the glasses.
4. Thoroughly clean the design area. Looking through the back of the glasses, position an ornament stencil centered in the archway. Use the etching cream, as before, to etch the ornaments onto the glasses.
5. Optional - Use a fine tip marker or self-adhesive letters and phrases to add a temporary name or word to the banner on the glasses.
